A Inglaterra foi o primeiro país a ter seu campeonato de futebol, quando o Brasil recém saíra da escravidão (13 de maio de 1888) e nem imaginava o que era esse esporte. O primeiro Campeonato Inglês surgiu há mais de 130 anos (Division One), exatamente no dia 8 de setembro de 1888, certamente ninguém imaginava que iria chegar na importância que se tem nos dias de hoje.
